Community based support systems: Our approach
The social needs of older adults are multifaceted, diverse and, more often than not, unmet. This is especially true for older adults living with disabilities, low incomes or multiple chronic conditions. For many, day-to-day mobility is restricted to the community or the home, limiting their capacities to access many external services that can help in bringing ease to their lives.
A care philosophy that emphasizes the whole of a person, rather than reducing an individual to his or her health problems and limitations, is precisely what older adults deserve. And we help in spreading the understanding that:

-
Old age is not about just older people, it is about all of us.
-
Older people are individuals and like any other group, they are also diverse.
-
Relationships matter, whatever be the age, all of us need to connect with others meaningfully.
-
Older people may have requirement of support, but they have many assets, strengths and resources.
-
Older people are particularly vulnerable to social isolation or loneliness owing to loss of friends, family, mobility and income
-
In the growing, urbanized, and competitive world, older people need a voice

We build community based support structures for the elderly, this means:

-
Recognizing older people as assets and transforming the perception of the society that they are not from passive recipients of services and that they are equal partners in planning for what they want
-
Providing new opportunities for participation, like group activities, support among neighbours,
-
Building on people’s existing capabilities, helping them unleash their hobbies and talents, just like it is done with small children
-
Creating peer support networks
-
Encouraging the youth to come forward and build a reciprocal and inter-generational dialogue as well as relationship
-
Befriending, mentoring, and creating community navigators for the older people
